Charles Warner was appointed Jan. 8 to fill the unexpired Place 1 council seat after the council followed its nomination and voting protocol.
The presiding officer explained nominations would be taken and each council member would state their vote by name; Charles Warner received at least four votes during sequential roll calls and a motion to appoint him was moved and seconded. The council then voted on the motion, which passed unanimously (6–0). "Charles Warner has served on the... Charter Review Commission previously," the presiding officer said in explaining his vote. Council members cited Warner’s volunteer activity, service on city boards and community presence as reasons for support.
