County awards $36,070 design contract for detention mezzanine security barrier

Public Works Director Jean Ligurski recommended awarding design services for a mezzanine security barrier to EDA Architects, the firm that originally designed the detention center. Ligurski told the board the firm has intimate knowledge of the facility and the county negotiated a fair price for the design, permitting and construction period services.
Ligurski said minor contract edits removed construction-specific Wyoming labor language and updated an old name in contract text; the board approved the contract award. The commission moved and seconded the action and approved awarding the contract to EDA Architects, Inc. in the amount of $36,070 and authorized the chairman to sign the contract.
Ligurski framed the selection as a continuity decision to expedite design and permitting work; staff noted the board had approved a budget transfer earlier to fund the project and that construction procurement will proceed under appropriate state rules if required.
