Nicoletta McTighe told the Common Council she plans to "learn the intricacies and the details" of day-to-day finance operations and to assess whether the city's financial system provides the functionality the city needs. McTighe said that work would include reviewing internal controls, evaluating the current financial software and recommending changes to improve efficiency.
McTighe emphasized staff development as part of her approach, saying one of her "favorite parts of the job is...training people, hiring people, training people, getting the seeing them going from the lowest level...to partner level." She told council members she had experience implementing system assessments and said she would draw on that experience to make operational improvements if confirmed.
