Family Healthcare urges space for pharmacy and behavioral health in Springdale clinic
Summary
Family Healthcare told the council its Springdale clinic is undersized, not open weekends, and that adding on-site pharmacy and behavioral health space would improve continuity of care for residents and visitors; staff said pharmacy space could help clinic sustainability.

At the start of the March 11 meeting Lori Wright, representing Family Healthcare, described patient growth from Springdale, Rockville and Virgin and said the organization’s Springdale facility is too small for current services. She emphasized two priorities for any new facility in town: an on-site pharmacy and space for behavioral health services.
"Having a pharmacy in a new facility in Springdale would be critical," Wright said, describing how pharmacy availability at other Family Healthcare locations has improved medication access, offered discounted medications and supported continuity of care. Wright added the Springdale clinic currently struggles to cover personnel costs for expanded hours and is therefore closed on some evenings and weekends. "The limited hours of operation helped safeguard the ability to operate the clinic and meet expenses," she said.
During public questions resident Gil Kiefer asked whether Family Healthcare could become the first-choice provider for emergencies in the Park. Wright said Family Healthcare is not a trauma center and that the Park has a medical director at St. George Regional for higher-acuity cases, but she said the Springdale clinic can serve ambulatory patients and visitors needing routine care or prescriptions.
Town staff and council members treated the presentation as context for zoning changes considered later in the meeting that would make it easier to site clinic facilities and associated pharmacies in town.
