Middletown chief: ARPA-funded HQ renovation out to bid; temporary move to water department likely

The chief said the renovation requires a full temporary relocation of firefighters and apparatus; after meeting with Water Department leadership and union representatives, he said the water department facility could house firefighters and apparatus for about a month during construction. "We could store our trucks inside," he said, describing the water department site as more accommodating than the current HQ for temporary living and operations.
Albert said he will return next month with bid results and a clearer estimate of how much financing will be required and asked for council support through finance and governmental review. The chief also noted he received a specification and price for a new Engine 3, reporting the quote "did come in under the million dollars," and described a 2.5-year build timeline for the apparatus.
