A city staff presenter summarized the inspection history and engineering findings and recommended that the board "take no further action. Let it expire. And we will begin the process of fulfilling the order." Staff explained the report documents roof, interior and foundation damage and stated demolition is likely because repair costs exceed thresholds for economic feasibility. The staff presentation traced the case back to May 2023 and noted repeated 30- and 60-day extensions before the current expiration date the staff cited.
Sean Carter, an attorney for MidFirst Bank (the lienholder), told the board vendors found "little property to preserve" and that the bank is prepared to "proceed with foreclosure" under the deed-of-trust waste provisions if economically appropriate. Homeowner Jill Malone said she had not received notice of prior proceedings and described her surprise at the banks position.
Board members discussed the engineering photos and the length of time the matter has been pending; one committee member said the board has shown "patience, compassion, kindness, and care." After brief additional comment, the board voted; staff reiterated that a motion to take no action allows the city's order to expire and gives the city the authority to move ahead with enforcement (which could include demolition).
