Larry Folkes appointed to Sweetwater County Weed and Pest Board

The Sweetwater County Board of County Commissioners unanimously appointed Larry Folkes to the Sweetwater County Weed and Pest Board to fill the term vacated by Lou (Louis) Aaron Bell.
Chairman West explained state statute requires that, in districts encompassing cities or towns with 5,000 or more residents, at least one district member be appointed from within city limits; county staff and legal reviewed the application and confirmed Folkes meets the Area 5 residency requirement (Rock Springs south of Interstate 80, east of the Green River). A petition required for the appointment was included in the commissioners’ packet.
Commissioner Richards moved to appoint Folkes and Commissioner Toman seconded; the motion passed on a unanimous voice vote. Chair West thanked both Lou Aaron Bell for his service and Larry Folkes for stepping forward to serve.
The commission paused the agenda earlier for a short review to ensure statutory compliance before taking the appointment vote.
