Vernon County WIC marks 50th anniversary; program eligible to apply for USDA Elite breastfeeding award

WIC Dietician Amy DuCharme told the board the Vernon County WIC agency celebrated its 50th anniversary and completed the biannual USDA review to confirm program compliance. DuCharme said the program will remain operating in a hybrid model until August 2026.
She reported that Vernon County WIC meets the USDA breastfeeding data standard and therefore has the opportunity to apply for the USDA Elite breastfeeding award; the minutes state Vernon County is the first agency in Wisconsin to meet the criteria and is one of five agencies in the Midwest region that qualify to apply.
