Board hears uptick in COVID hospitalizations and recent rabies detection in region

Deputy Health Officer Emily Olson reported a recent uptick in hospitalizations related to COVID-19 in the region and told the board staff continue to monitor trends.
Olson also noted that a positive rabies detection in a bat was reported in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois; she said there are currently no rabies cases in Vernon County. Avian influenza is being tracked statewide and locally, with no confirmed cases in the county at this time.
