Vernon County Health Department readies for preparedness exercise, rabies clinic and vaccine orders

Deputy Health Officer Emily Olson told the board the Health Department will participate in a month-long "Preparedness Bright Horizon Recovery Exercise" with Emergency Management beginning Aug. 20; the group will meet four times during the month to run the exercise.
Olson said the department will partner with the local Humane Society to run a rabies clinic on Aug. 28 and that the department was approved to use $500 for two events. She also reported the department plans influenza vaccine clinics for public and private schools and intends to order COVID vaccine, transitioning from Pfizer to Moderna because of storage and handling considerations.
