Committee recommends dropping CTH‑VV safety project; LRIP applications and bridge work continue

Staff told the committee the CTH‑VV Safety Improvement Program can only be extended one year to 2029 and recommended dropping the project because the necessary improvements do not align with the pavement condition. "CTH-VV Safety Improvement Program can only be extended 1 year to 2029. Committee recommends dropping project," staff reported.
At the same time, staff submitted applications to WisDOT to use LRIP CHI‑S funds on the CTH‑S segment north of Monette to CTH‑SS and for a CTH‑F project from Club House Lane to North Branch; those funds are available now because the CTH‑R project qualified for STP funds. Peters Concrete has started work on STH‑22 in Gillett and detours will be adjusted as Shawano County lifts limits. CTH‑CC bridge work is slated to start in June and design continues on the Smyth Road bridge; staff also noted ongoing mastic work, brush cutting, litter pickup and storm‑damage tree removal.
