Council agrees to allow City Hall as polling site if alternate sites are exhausted

Bridget Escobedo, elections administrator for Williamson County, said the county needs a secure polling location in Hutto for early voting and election day and asked the council to let the elections office use City Hall if alternatives are unavailable.
"I come before you tonight to ask you to allow us to use your, facility, as a polling location," Escobedo said, noting the Wilco annex is "in flux" and may be listed for sale. Council members expressed concern about the impact of multi‑day early voting on routine city operations and court schedules and asked staff to exhaust alternate locations such as nearby churches before authorizing City Hall. Mayor pro tem and other council members pressed staff to secure options quickly so voters will know where to go.
The council approved a motion allowing the county to use City Hall for early voting and election day only after staff attempts to secure two identified churches or negotiates use of the annex; staff must report back by Friday, Jan. 30. Council voted 7–0 to pass the motion.
