Sweetwater County public works director Gene Legurski and school superintendent Dr. Cooper briefed the commission on efforts to formalize a long‑used non‑county road that provides access to Tollman Ranch School.
Legurski said the previously estimated viewer fee (to establish the road formally) has increased to about $8,500. He cautioned that the road crosses multiple jurisdictions — the first 300 feet fall in Lincoln County and several miles run across Bureau of Reclamation land — and that formal easement or right‑of‑way documents are required before the county can accept or maintain the road.
Legurski offered a rough engineering estimate for materials: "You're looking at what, 800,000 ish for a mile... you probably don't have to put that much on there right now so you could probably put 3 and 3 plus grading, but you're looking at that 500 to 1,000,000." Superintendent Cooper told the board the route is used daily by school staff and the district supports formalization to ensure reliable winter access and long‑term maintenance. Commissioners directed staff to update the resolution and proceed with the viewer's work while coordinating with Lincoln County and the Bureau of Reclamation.
