Commission schedules Veterans Day flag pickup, confirms veteran counts across cemeteries

The Williamstown Cemetery Commission confirmed Veterans Day falls on Nov. 11 and scheduled a volunteer flag pickup for Saturday, Nov. 15 at 9:00 a.m. at the Village Cemetery. "It falls on Tuesday - - Nov. 11th," Susan Lyons said, and the commission decided flags would be placed then and picked up on Nov. 15; Joe will close the cemeteries after the flags have been collected and after the Nov. 20 meeting.
Lyons reported the commission's master lists currently show 182 veterans in the Village Cemetery, 59 in West Hill and 50 in East Hill for a total of 291 across the three cemeteries. Commissioners agreed to order additional WWII flag holders and to procure chains or coated cables for Village Cemetery winter closures.
