Residents place grocery access far ahead of other retail in Hutto wish-list survey

"This is the largest, biggest, gap in between 1st place and 2nd place throughout the entirety of the survey," Hamzler said, describing grocery as the clearest retail shortfall. Councilmembers discussed showing the ranked results as part of outreach to grocers and whether to engage chains such as H‑E‑B or Sprouts to verify demand and site feasibility.
Members also noted that geography and traffic patterns affect grocery siting; staff agreed to provide counts and a simpler numeric handout to support targeted retailer conversations.
