Commissioners approve Green River Courthouse elevator modernization; Kone awarded contract

Sweetwater County commissioners approved the Green River Courthouse elevator modernization project and authorized a contract with Kone, the county’s elevator maintenance provider.

Public Works Director Gene Legurski said the project will fully modernize the elevator — removing original 1964 control equipment, replacing drive and hydraulic systems, updating door systems and adding accessibility features such as a visual/LED communication module for the deaf and hard-of-hearing. Legurski told the board the project is included in the capital budget and estimated a roughly six-week construction window once components are on order.

During the meeting Legurski stated the engineer’s estimate was lower than bid results but said the board had transferred money from underrun capital projects to cover the increase. The board moved, seconded and approved the contract by voice vote.
