Emergency Management alerts commissioners to flood-zone pond, cooling-station option; board approves transfers, payroll and claims

Emergency Management staff provided a standing update during the July 20 meeting. A resident reported a neighbor constructing a pond in Flood Zone A without a permit; Emergency Management staff member Charlotte said she would perform an aerial assessment. Staff reported volunteer work on a new building, three quotes for ceiling work, and outreach at the Sac and Fox Pow Wow. Charlotte also noted she could set up a cooling station at the county fairgrounds if a heat advisory required one.

Following the update, the board approved Purchase Card Payment Approval Form, monthly reports and multiple transfers of appropriations and funds. Notable transfers included $90,000 moved from Use Tax split as $30,000 into each District 1–3 Use Tax accounts; other transfers and error corrections totaled various amounts (examples include $1,271.32 residual balance transfer and error corrections shifting $27,451.63 and $633.22 from the 2024 Attorney General Opioid Abatement to General Government Opioid Settlement). The commission also approved extensive payroll claims across multiple funds and a detailed set of vendor claims and ARPA expenditures including insurance disbursements and construction payments. New Business recorded that 'Budget Maker' received paperwork to start budget preparation and that the 2024-2025 Opioid Abatement closeout must be completed by the end of July.
