BOCC approves UTV purchase for Pickett VFD, reopens chip-seal bid and OKs cul-de-sac plan for CR 1580

Across July meetings the BOCC handled several infrastructure and public-works items. The board approved Bid #27-1 to let purchase of a utility task vehicle (UTV) for Pickett Volunteer Fire Department after an initial rebid period produced no timely submissions. The BOCC also let a reopened Road Chip Sealing Service contract (Bid #27-2) to cover August–December 2026 work.
The board approved multiple utility-crossing permits for Trace Fiber Networks (fiber-optic crossings at CR 3585 and Kerr Lab Rd) and authorized the county to build a cul-de-sac to allow school buses and large vehicles to turn around at the east end of CR 1580 under option #1, with property owners granting easements and the county responsible for construction.
