County Administrator Patrick Whiteford presented a finance package of compensation changes, vendor quotes and grants. Commissioners adopted a proposed non-union wage scale that sets Parks and Recreation Director and DPW Supervisor salaries at $58,656 and a zoning wage for under-29-hours positions at $22.30 per hour; the board also approved a 5.4% increase to the Drain Commissioner salary effective Jan. 1, 2026.
On technology procurement, the board approved a VMWARE license purchase from CDW for $12,254.40 per year for three years and accepted Empiric quotes for infrastructure ($117,161.62) and VMWARE host servers ($120,690.33); the administrator noted the server quotes were time-limited. Commissioners also approved accepting the Materials Management Planning Program Grant #PLA-25-073 MMP-Kalkaska for $68,969 and authorized the chair to sign.
The minutes record these approvals as consensus motions with no opposition. The board requested that the administrator verify petty-cash and cash-box amounts for several departments as part of Policy #165 updates.
