Federal webinar presenters urged tribal CSBG administrators to begin preparing their FY27 Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) tribal plans well ahead of the Sept. 1, 2026 submission deadline and described the PEAK planning framework to guide those plans.
"By beginning this process early, it creates space for thoughtful planning and helps ensure everything comes together smoothly," Cheryl Zuni, director of the Division of Community Assistance, said in opening remarks. Zuni said program specialists are available for technical assistance at any stage and that the Office of Community Services (OCS) team is committed to supporting tribes through plan development.
The presentation framed the tribal plan as both an application for funding and a roadmap for anti-poverty strategies. Presenters emphasized that the plan should reflect locally driven priorities, document community feedback, and link objectives to trackable measures that support later reporting. Jocelyn Doyle, a CSBG program specialist, added that the SF-424M and transmittal letter must accompany the tribal plan as part of a complete submission.
Presenters closed by restating available resources — regional program specialists, policy/data staff, and technical assistance providers — and by announcing two office hours sessions to help recipients with FY27 submissions.
