Council asks whether centralized point-of-sale could let Hutto track vendor sales

During the work session staff and council discussed technical options to ensure the city receives an accurate share of vendor revenue. Steve Barnes and Sarah Simontes pointed to Georgetown's centralized point-of-sale system as an example: "City of Georgetown has a centralized point of sale system for there to step in. So every vendor has to use that system and tickets go through there every purchase, and that's how they're able to ensure that they get their cut," staff said.
Council members raised enforcement questions: how to audit sales and penalize vendors who accept off-book payments or take credit cards against park rules. Staff said they will research required systems, costs, and any procurement or regulatory steps needed before bringing a recommendation back to council.
