"It was the state trying to control where we invest the money," the treasurer said, and added that the proposal did not go through. Board members said such proposals could cut county revenue and described it as overreach; one supervisor suggested banks may have lobbied for the change.
The treasurer said county limits on investments are set by resolution. Supervisors moved to receive the semiannual report, and the motion carried.
