Wright County agrees to landfill per‑capita increase; board approves budget amendment

Wright County Auditor Amanda Meyer told supervisors the county received a letter after the budget was set informing the board of a per‑capita price increase from the area landfill.
"The landfill sent a letter after the supervisor's budget had been set informing them of a price increase in the per capita," Meyer said. Supervisor Ellis questioned the calculations, noting she had used 2020 Census figures and wanted the landfill to use the same. Landfill Director Travis Connor told the board the landfill board used 2010 Census numbers because they did not feel the 2020 numbers were accurate.
The board moved to approve paying the new price and to do a budget amendment; the motion carried with Supervisor Bosch recorded as a nay vote. Ellis asked that future notices of increases be sent in January to align with county and city budget processes and reiterated her preference that the landfill use the 2020 Census when calculating per‑capita charges.
The board accepted the motion to receive the auditor's quarterly revenue report as a separate action later in the meeting.
