The West Town Township Board of Supervisors voted to adopt Resolution 2026-10 to participate in a regional fire and emergency medical services strategic planning study.
Chair opened discussion saying the study aims to "evaluate the long term sustainability" of emergency services across the region and the consultant would "review current operations, finances, staffing, and future projections" to provide recommendations. A board member moved to adopt the resolution and it was seconded; after limited public questioning about whether the study requires full participation from all neighboring municipalities, the board approved the motion by voice vote.
Township staff told the board that the study is intended to help municipalities weigh funding and service-delivery models amid staffing and equipment-cost pressures. The motion authorizes an expenditure of funds "in the amount not to exceed $20,000" as the townships share of the study cost. A resident asked whether the study would proceed if some municipalities decline; staff replied that several nearby townships had already committed while others had not yet voted.
