The Select Board voted to reconvene and formally reconstitute the subcommittee charged with evaluating purchase of Jamaica Village School for $1 from the district and to start the work immediately.
Chair moved that the committee that was formed to consider whether the town should "vote to purchase Jamaica Village School for a dollar, from the district" be reappointed and begin work. Members discussed committee membership and whether to add additional volunteers; the chair and other members listed former and proposed members (Robert, Jason, Karen, Patty Burston, Emma Spat, Diane Robles, Peter and Jean Gollbrand) and agreed to recruit additional help for tasks including inventory and negotiations.
A member said there is no formal inventory document available and that residents who worked in the building for decades could help identify original fixtures and furniture. Board members plan to meet with district representatives to negotiate what items will be returned to the town (chairs, oven, other equipment) and to draft an inventory and access plan.
