Council discusses Wildland Urban Interface map; Chief Harmon absent due to active fire

City staff discussed creating a Wildland Urban Interface map with borders around entitled developments (Firelight, Boulder Ridge, Anderson Junction). Chief Dave Harmon was unable to attend; the council asked staff to resume discussion when he can participate.
City Manager Ben Billingsley introduced a work-item discussion on creating a Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) map for Toquerville. Billingsley said he invited Chief Dave Harmon of the Hurricane Valley Fire District to speak but the chief was unavailable because he was out on a fire. Billingsley proposed building a WUI map that draws borders around entitled development areas such as Firelight, Boulder Ridge and the Anderson Junction area; staff does not yet have a cost estimate.
Assistant City Manager Darrin LeFevre discussed options for creating the map and noted he did not have an exact cost figure. The council asked staff to continue the discussion when Chief Harmon is available to provide fire-district input.
