At the Aug. 3 meeting, a staff member introduced a newly developed coaches expectations document intended to centralize requirements, training prerequisites, and a code of ethics for coaches across district schools. The presenter (identified in the meeting as "Josh") said the document provides a single point of reference for duties and expectations, particularly for coaches who are not certified teachers.
"Just trying to put requirements and expectations of coaches in 1 place, so we have a point of reference," Josh said, explaining the document includes legal duties, required pre-coaching training, and other resources. Board members commended the work and noted that written standards will improve accountability and offer staff a place to consult when situations arise.
