The committee approved Resolution 402 to accept grant funds from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services to support the district attorney's '1 Life Only' anti‑violence initiative. The DA described the program, started in 2024, as a prevention effort that brings youth together in activities and community events to promote nonviolent conflict resolution and interaction across the county.
The DA said the program has run events in Ellenville High School and will hold a larger main event this September at Foresight Park, and that the program will expand to other districts. "When you take someone's life, that's gone," the DA said, framing the program as a prevention effort intended to reduce shootings and violent incidents. The resolution was moved and adopted to enable continued program expansion and funding.
