The Select Board spent an extended portion of the meeting briefing residents about proposed state land‑use changes the chair described as "Act 181," an amendment affecting Act 250 jurisdiction that could subject more parcels and certain long driveways to state review. The chair urged residents to consult maps the town will publish and said the board will keep the issue as a standing agenda item while the legislature considers the bill.
“Act 2 50 is is is, is a serious, review process,” the chair said, describing how a parcel that has been permitted under Act 250 can remain subject to the statute even if subdivided later. He noted the proposed rules would extend jurisdiction to open land more than about 800 feet from a roadway in many parts of town, and that the board and a small invited working group will meet with Laura Sebelia this week to get more detailed guidance before wider public outreach.
Board members encouraged residents to watch the town website for explanatory materials and maps and said the town will provide regular updates as the legislative process continues. The board also noted there is pending legislation to delay the effective date of the 800‑foot roadway rule to December 31, 2027, should the legislature pass that bill.
