The Jamaica Select Board voted to accept Hunter Excavating’s low bid of $239,815 to replace two undersized culverts on Goodleville Road with a new 6-by-14-foot box culvert. Greg, who presented the bid results, said five reputable contractors submitted bids and Hunter’s was the lowest.
Greg explained the procurement and bid review process and gave the figures for each bidder: AS Clark and Sons $245,840; Fitzpatrick Excavating $241,500; Thompson Site Services $275,200; Belden Construction $575,000; Hunter Excavating $239,815. “I will make a motion that we accept the bid of Hunter Excavating for 239,815 as the lowest bidder,” Greg said, and the board approved the motion by voice vote.
Board members said most of the project cost is covered by a B-Trans grant and the town will cover remaining budgetary obligations. The board directed staff to coordinate the construction timeline and permitting with the precaster, B-Trans and town highway staff and noted early design work and shop drawings will follow the vote.
