Board continues $10,000 funding for federal CAT program; volunteers report more than 200 cats fixed

"We're over 200 right now as of yesterday with the cat that I brought in," Jonas said, describing the program's progress and the limits volunteers face when shipping animals out of town for surgery. Commissioners discussed potential shared use of county buildings (animal-control facility, the search-and-rescue building once air-conditioning is installed, or an available double-wide structure) and agreed more details should be returned as a separate agenda item.
Sheriff Robert Quick, who had placed the funding continuation on the agenda, said he would work with staff to identify potential spaces. The board approved continued funding and asked staff to return with more specific facility options and operational details.
