Town Manager Suzanne Harvey told the council that the Town’s procurement code has not been updated in years and that $10,000 used to be a large threshold when the limits were set. She proposed replacing full RFP requirements for expenditures over $10,000 with a three-quote process and recommended authorizing the Town Manager to approve emergency expenditures up to $35,000.
Town Attorney Thomas Benavidez signaled agreement with the proposed approach. Mayor Wallace directed staff to return an ordinance implementing the suggested changes at the next council meeting.
