The Des Moines County Board of Supervisors on July 28 approved final plats for two new subdivisions, moving both projects forward after staff review and a formal motion on the consent agenda.
Assistant Land Use Administrator Jarred Lassiter presented both proposals and recommended approval. For the Lois Wiegand Subdivision the board adopted RESOLUTION #2026-046, which states, "That the Board of Supervisors hereby approves the Final Plat of Lois Wiegand Subdivision." For the Marilyn Drebenstedt Subdivision the board adopted RESOLUTION #2026-049 under the same Code of Iowa authority.
The resolutions cite Section 354.8 of the Code of Iowa as the statutory basis for certifying subdivision plats; county departments including the Auditor, Health Department, Secondary Roads and Land Use reviewed the plats for conformance with county standards before the board signed the resolutions. Vice Chair Tom Broeker moved to approve the Lois Wiegand plat; member Jim Cary seconded. For the Drebenstedt plat Cary moved and Broeker seconded; both motions carried and, unless otherwise noted, actions at the meeting passed unanimously.
The approvals were recorded on the resolutions signed by Chair Shane McCampbell, Vice Chair Tom Broeker and member Jim Cary and attested by County Auditor Sara Doty. The board did not record additional conditions or objections in the meeting minutes.
