City leaders detailed a set of budget notes at the June 29 public hearing that would raise the General Fund millage by three (3) mills. The presentation set General Operating Budget millage at 106.0 mills and 5.0 mills for bonded indebtedness tied to the public safety building. "There is a three (3) mill tax increase planned in the General Fund," Mayor Michael E. Suggs said during the presentation.
The presentation also announced a $1.00-per-month increase to residential solid-waste fees tied to contractor collection costs, no proposed increase to current water and sewer rates, and an increase to water and sewer impact fees for new construction. City staff noted that full-time qualifying employees would be eligible for raises of up to 4% of their salary. These items were presented as part of the FY2026-27 proposal; formal adoption steps were not recorded in this hearing.
