Chief Dolan asked the committee for permission to purchase a budgeted multipurpose pickup truck to replace a vehicle that was previously converted into a grass-fire apparatus; he said the truck is used for hauling hose, trailers and equipment and that funds were included in this year’s budget. "Funds were budgeted for it for this year," he said.
Staff explained dealer purchasing could yield savings (about $6,000 less) but dealers may not guarantee holding a vehicle; the department intends to secure a vehicle that meets its needs in the near vicinity. A trustee moved to approve the budgeted purchase and the motion carried unanimously.
