Police chief reports increases in calls, cites staffing as driver; intersection data reviewed

Chief Delaine presented the police monthly report, saying "Calls are up again. Arrests are up. Citations are up," and attributed much of the increase to higher staffing levels that allow officers to be more proactive. He also described participation in a state-run truck inspection operation (July 13–17) with 17 inspections and 92 violations, and noted a local arrest on a warrant.
The chief reviewed a 10-year crash analysis for several intersections, reporting six personal-injury crashes and 30 property-damage crashes at Holy Hill and Highway 145; other intersections showed different patterns. Staff said they will reinstall the sign board at Holy Hill/145 within a month or two to collect more data; trustees asked about flashing speed signs and coordination with the state since the road is a state highway. The chief agreed to pursue school-based outreach and utility-bill messaging as part of public education.
