Cass County revokes about 8.1 miles of local roads to Turtle Lake Township, approves joint powers agreement

Anderson said the transfers align with Cass County's Transportation Plan and noted that, under Minnesota statute, the county will continue maintaining the roads for two years following revocation.
Representatives of Turtle Lake Township expressed concerns about recurring flooding along County Road 124 and called attention to two aging culverts on CSAH 72 that predate modern installation standards (originally installed in 1940). Anderson discussed engineering options and noted a potential pond-leveler installation to maintain water flow during wet years. The board adopted Resolution 39-26 by unanimous vote. Following adoption, the board also approved a Joint Powers Agreement with Turtle Lake Township to provide certain roadway improvements before the maintenance period ends; the township board approved the agreement unanimously during the meeting.
