Board hears recommendation to hire Gateway Engineers for junior–senior high site work

The Riverview School District heard a presentation Aug. 3 recommending Gateway Engineers for three site services tied to the planned junior–senior high additions. Mr. Reedy, the project manager, said Gateway’s combined proposal was the lowest of three firms and recommended consolidating civil engineering, geotechnical borings and land surveying under one firm to simplify communication and accountability.

Reedy summarized the three procurement tracks and said proposals were received from CEC, HRG and Gateway. He described Gateway’s geotechnical scope as itemized and noted that borings will likely need to reach bedrock at roughly 80 feet. “Gateway Engineers was the lowest of the three that we got,” he said, and added that Gateway’s approach to reimbursables made their base fee lower overall.

Board members asked about prior district experience with the firms. Reedy said the district had worked with CEC on a recent driveway project but could not confirm HRG or Gateway work offhand and offered to follow up with Superintendent Neil English. The board asked to receive all three proposals and a clearer list of expected reimbursables; Reedy said the proposals and an itemized reimbursables list were available in the project folder and that he would circulate them and follow up.

The project schedule was also reviewed: schematic design is expected to be finalized and presented at the September board meeting, after which the board would consider approval to move into design‑development. The recommendation to select a single engineering team is likely to appear on the board’s voting agenda in the coming weeks.
