The Town Council adopted Ordinance 2026-04 at its Feb. 12 meeting, approving multiple amendments to Title 6 “Animals.” The ordinance revises expiration rules for licenses and vaccinations, removes references to an animal shelter the Town no longer operates, adjusts impoundment and adoption provisions, clarifies rules for keeping chickens in town limits, and updates rules regarding traps and animal capture.
Town Attorney and Police Chief (per agenda listing) presented the ordinance. Mayor Johann R. Wallace moved to adopt; Christy Hirshberg seconded the motion and the ordinance was adopted at second reading. The changes reflect updates to local animal-control administration and clarify where town code no longer applies to a nonexistent shelter.
