Council adopts code change to amend exceptions for minors possessing firearms

The Huachuca City Town Council adopted Ordinance 2026-02 on Feb. 12 to revise the town code’s exceptions under which minors may lawfully possess firearms. Town Attorney Thomas Benavidez presented the proposed amendment to Title 9, Chapter 9.20, and cited the statutory basis for the change: A.R.S. 13-3108(G)(2)(d).
Mayor Johann R. Wallace moved to adopt Ordinance 2026-02; Debra Trate seconded the motion and the Council adopted the ordinance at second reading as shown in the minutes. The amendment is recorded on the agenda as required to align town code with state law.
