Huachuca City council adopts ordinance to repeal firearm background-check fee

The Huachuca City Town Council on Feb. 12 adopted Ordinance 2026-01, removing a local fee charged for criminal background checks before the transfer of a firearm to comply with state law. Town Attorney Thomas Benavidez presented the code amendment, which modifies Title 2, Chapter 2.55 of the Town Code to repeal the fee and bring local code into alignment with A.R.S. 13-3108(A).
Mayor Johann R. Wallace moved to adopt Ordinance 2026-01; Christy Hirshberg seconded the motion, which the Council approved. The ordinance was recorded as adopted on the meeting minutes. The item was considered on second reading and adoption as noted on the agenda.
