Chief Berry explained that certain provisions of the town's animal code are no longer relevant to current shelter operations and that removing those provisions would facilitate working with the county if a county-run shelter is established in Huachuca City. He asked the council to authorize staff and the attorney to prepare ordinance language.
Council approved the motion to prepare animal-code amendments unanimously. The change was presented as a housekeeping and intergovernmental coordination measure rather than a substantive new policy shift.
