The Kay County Board of County Commissioners met June 8 in Newkirk and carried a slate of routine fiscal and procurement actions including the approval of Cash Fund appropriations and six‑month line‑item bid awards. The board also approved installation of patriotic bunting on the courthouse and tabled consideration of a 300‑gallon tank skid purchase for the River Road Fire Department pending clarification of a vendor quote.
Commissioner Shane Jones moved to approve the Cash Fund Estimate of Needs, which included a Highway allocation of $1,910,068.56 and detailed fund distributions; the motion carried on a unanimous voice vote of the three commissioners. Emergency Management Director Brian Muret reported a separate item under new business: "the OSU Extension Office distributed 166 food boxes through the non‑congregate summer meal program." The meeting was posted June 5 and adjourned at 10:34 a.m.
