Board to continue alum treatments; staff to train members on sampling kits

Consultant Katie Rodriguez recommended annual low-dose alum applications rather than a single large dose because Ocean Shores has continual groundwater phosphorus inputs; she also urged routine monitoring to evaluate effectiveness and adapt doses after a year or two. The board discussed testing logistics and the cost trade-offs of contractor-run tests (about $2,000 per event locally) versus in-house volunteer sampling and shipment to Ecology.
