Littleville bridge FEMA work may be deemed permanent; town may redeploy mitigation funds

The Select Board received an update on FEMA-funded repairs for the Littleville Bridge wing wall. Staff reported that no engineering proposals were submitted for the advertised repair, but VTrans and a river corridor engineer inspected the temporary work on site and said the existing temporary repairs may be equivalent to or better than the original design and could be accepted as permanent work.
If state and FEMA approvals confirm the work as permanent, some funds originally designated for the wing-wall repair could be reallocated to mitigation projects elsewhere. The board and staff agreed to monitor the site during high-water events and to notify state officials of the lack of bids and the inspection results, and will pursue clarification from FEMA and VTrans on next steps.
Board members said they will inform the state and track whether mitigation funds can be used for other eligible projects.
