Chair announced during the June 22 meeting that the town has received formal offers for each of the lots it listed, with several parcels drawing multiple bids.
"In fact, 1 of them, we have 5 offers," the Chair said, and the board agreed to schedule a special meeting for Thursday, June 25 at 2:00 p.m. (Zoom) to review offer details (prices and terms) while withholding bidder names. The town clerk/administrator will share offer details with board members in advance so the board can decide whether to accept offers at the special meeting.
The Chair explained that after the board signs a contract there is a 30-day period during which 5% of voters may petition to call a special town meeting to challenge the sale; if no petition is filed the sale proceeds. Board members discussed parcel-level questions (e.g., whether Dalewood should have been split into two lots) but agreed that a decision will be made at the special meeting.
The board asked the administrator to notify prospective bidders and the public that bids remain open until the review and that offer summaries (excluding bidder names) will be provided to the board.
