Fire Chief Jordan Elder told commissioners that the vehicle functions as a tactical tanker that carries larger volumes of water and can haul the department's portable water tank for helicopter and rural structure support; he said the 1989 engine being replaced would need significant rebuild costs to remain serviceable.
