Nobles County board approves consent agenda, grants and contracts; hears Geronimo Power update

The board approved a consent agenda that included the Nov. 18, 2025 draft minutes, travel expense reports, auditor and commissioner warrants, and several service agreements. Robert S. The consent list also referenced a 2026 transportation agreement with United Community Action Partnership and a professional service agreement for transcription with Miriam Johnson of Godspeed Transcription.
During a special presentation, a representative of Geronimo Power described planned data-center and renewable projects and said the company would provide environmental studies and zoning information for county review; no board action was requested. The board accepted a $25,000 grant from the Taylor Family Farms Foundation — reported by administration and submitted via CEDA — to support child-care expansion and related subsidy and provider funds. The board also approved an update to Personnel Policy P-208 adjusting Christmas Eve office closure and holiday pay to match recently bargained union contract language.
Other actions included three Opioid Review Committee funding approvals (Educational Supplies $2,744; Response Equipment $30,000; Advanced Drone System up to $30,000), award of a $17,125 bid for an Assessor’s customer-service window to Doom & Cuypers, approval of a three-year snow-removal schedule for the Adrian Branch Library with per-event fees of $70/$75/$80 across three seasons, acknowledgement of an increase in Fenton Power Partners I, LLC’s surety bond from $750,000 to $900,000, and approval to reissue a lost warrant to Haben A. Neguse. The meeting adjourned at 5:14 p.m.
