Neighbor raises traffic and privacy concerns for proposed senior housing off Lake Forest

During the public hearing on the rezoning near US Highway 380 and University Drive, resident Elvin Turner of 4509 Rustic Ridge Drive spoke in opposition, citing building height, traffic and privacy as his principal concerns.
Turner said he had attended earlier meetings where the project had been presented as three stories and that the applicant's reduction to two stories was an improvement, but he remained worried about added traffic on narrow local streets and about patios overlooking his backyard. "My opposition for this development is it isn't the senior living... My only concern was the height of the building as well as the traffic," Turner said. He asked that the development be kept "level with my fence" to preserve privacy.
Commissioners acknowledged the concerns and asked staff to take another look at traffic patterns; staff replied that formal traffic studies would be performed if requested by engineering and reminded the commission that Lake Forest is shown in the arterial map as a six-lane facility but that no immediate widening is planned.
Turner was the only member of the public to speak on this item at Planning & Zoning; the commission later approved the rezoning and forwarded the item to City Council for final action.
