The Reinbeck City Council opened a proposed property tax levy hearing during a special session April 6, 2026, at Council Chambers. City Administrator Julie Wilkerson presented the levy figures and identified the factors behind the proposed increase: "the levy rate will be $12.10245," she said, explaining that employee wages and benefit increases and higher insurance costs drove the change.
Wilkerson told the council the current-year certified levy rate is $12.10487 and that, had the budget been kept the same for the next fiscal year, the levy would have been $11.87046. The council recorded no written or oral comments for or against the proposal; Councilmember Johnson moved to close the hearing, seconded by Councilmember Trepp, and the council voted 4-0 to close the hearing at 5:05 p.m. The meeting then adjourned on a 4-0 vote.
